Most people will feel lonely at some points in their lives, but for a growing number of people, particularly those in later life, loneliness can have a significant impact on their wellbeing. According to Age UK, nearly a million older people in the UK are often lonely.
In association with local charities and groups, a number of our centres – including Priory Meadow Shopping Centre in Hastings - host regular events for older people in the community promoting friendship and providing activities.
Priory Meadow Shopping Centre in Hastings hosts a quarterly ‘Cuppa Club’, a free to drop-in meet-up, with events including afternoon tea, live music, dancing, craft activities and more. The centre team work with their charity partner Little Gate Supported Employment to staff these popular events.
