Making our Centres Dementia Friendly and Raising Community Awareness
In support of Dementia Action Week (18th-24th May 2026), The Hillstreet Centre hosted representatives from Dementia Action Teesside, Age Friendly Middlesbrough, and We Care You Care, who raised awareness amongst customers about the local support available to those living with dementia and their families.
The team have become "Dementia Friends" by undertaking training through Dementia Action, which has extended to retailers' store teams, including Primark's.
The team also took part in a video produced by Dementia Action Teesside alongside several other local businesses, showcasing how we have made adaptations to ensure our shopping centre environment is welcoming and inclusive for those with dementia.
