Through our charitable partnerships with the Trussell Trust, Chasing the Stigma, and the Academy of Real Assets, we are committed to addressing food insecurity, improving mental health awareness, and creating opportunities for the next generation of property professionals. These partnerships reflect our ambition to be a responsible business that invests in people and communities.
NewRiver’s corporate charity partnership with Trussell began in June 2019. Trussell’s vital work supports over 1,400 food banks across the UK, helping to provide three-day emergency food parcels and practical support to people left without enough money to live on.
Since establishing the partnership NewRiver has donated over £575,000 to support Trussell’s efforts and collected over 17.5 tonnes of food donations. In addition, NewRiver staff have volunteered at Trussell community food banks, food collection points have been installed across NewRiver’s shopping centre portfolio, and NewRiver assets have been made available for storage, awareness campaigns and volunteer recruitment.

NewRiver established a partnership with Chasing the Stigma, a national mental health charity, in spring 2023 with the aim to ensure staff felt supported and that mental health was normalised in both the workplace and wider communities.
NewRiver worked closely with Chasing the Stigma to roll out the Ambassador of Hope training programme to all colleagues centrally and across the shopping centre portfolio, resulting in over 150 Ambassadors of Hope across the business.
The partnership also extended to generating awareness of the Hub of Hope services in and around the shopping centre communities through a series of targeted campaigns across social and digital sites.

The Academy of Real Assets was founded in 2020 with a single idea and ambition – to introduce the real estate and property industry to students who would not typically consider it as a career.
NewRiver are proud to be one of the first members to sign up and support The Academy of Real Assets, and are pleased to have a member of the NewRiver team established as the chair of The Academy Youth Network
NewRiver are excited about the possibilities this partnership offers, and have enjoyed being part of several activities including involvement in the Palace for Life : Kick off to Construction event.
