Allan and Clive kicked off our new series in August with a lively discussion about retail real estate, charting everything from why NewRiver has a focus on retail parks – as part of a nationwide retail portfolio focused on essential goods and services – to Allan's interest in the Home Bargains in Birkenhead and Clive’s take on why inflation is the “defining economic number of our generation”.

The fireside-style chat delves into why non-discretionary retail remains resilient, underpinned by stabilising grocery sales data. Allan and Clive also share some surprising stats around mortgages and its impact to the disposable income of UK consumers, as well as where we see rental growth coming from, and the in-store fulfilment of click & collect, suggesting that the physical store is arguably the real “last mile distribution”.
